Timber workers in East Gippsland, Australia are on strike, saying they face ruin unless the federal government offers restructuring assistance.
The workers say the industry is facing a crisis, partly because of the downturn in the world’s pulp and paper market.
Protestors also accuse timber companies of drawing too many contractors into the area in a bid to keep competition high and costs low.
