An auction of timber stocks and machinery of window manufacturer Whitaker & Co (Denholme) Ltd will take place from July 19, marking the end of a company which was founded over 100 years ago.

The Bradford company, a member of the British Woodworking Federation and Wood Window Alliance, is currently in the hands of administrators KPMG.

Whitaker had started the year with confidence, launching the Pennine Thermic triple-glazed window at Ecobuild in March.

It had completed a number of large high-profile window contracts in recent years, including 300 units for renovation of Trencherfield Mills in Wigan by developer Stewart Milne.

Engineered timber, redwood and hardwood are being auctioned, along with three Weinig Unicontrol 10 window production centres, two Weinig Profimats, as well as Dimter, Wadkin and Robinson saws. Other machines include Wadkin, Stegner and Interwood.

Trucks, sideloaders and a stacker truck will also go under the hammer, along with a timber impregnation plant.

Eddisons is handling the auction, with bidding starting on July 19 and finishing on August 5. Viewing will be at Whitaker’s Denholme Gate premises.
