The assets of a 142-year-old Hampshire timber merchant are now being auctioned off after the company was voluntarily wound up in May.

Wholesale timber stocks, woodworking machinery & handling equipment, plus forklift trucks & motor vehicles are being auctioned via Proudley Associates on the order of James Stares of Antony Batty & Company, the Liquidator of J F Goodwillie Ltd.

Back in May, Portsmouth News reported that staff at the Waterlooville company had been made redundant and that director Alan Goodger had decided to retire.

Mr Goodger, who signed the voluntary winding up order on May 22, has been director at the firm since the 1980s and the business had been in his family for about 80 years. JF Goodwillie was established in 1882.

Items for auction include parcels of hardwood, softwood, fencing, composite decking and panel products – with a cost price of £220,000. Vehicles for auction include Assorted Boss/Lancer side loading forklift trucks, two delivery trucks and woodworking machinery.Bids on-line started on August 19 and will be open to September 4.
