Trussed Rafter Association member Aspect Roofing has designed, manufactured and supplied metal-web joists for the premises of fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.

The Posi-joists, up to 5m long, were used in the intermediate floors and flat roof area of the five-storey extension. They were delivered at the rate of one floor a week to infill the building’s main steel frame.

Malcolm Raybone, managing director of main contractor Isle Construction, said each floor – 100m² of joists – was installed in just three days.

The project team Posi-joists, which are a MiTek system, to make the routing of ductwork for the air conditioning and other services easier.

“They create some 190mm for the services which made fitting the ductwork far simpler,” said Mr Raybone.
