Three men have been arrested in connection with a major fire which destroyed 12,000 tonnes of timber at a Middlesbrough wood recycling plant.
The fire, which started last Sunday, was so serious that the fire brigade says it will be several more days before hotspots are extinguished completely.
Jigsaw Wood Recycling owner Guy Evans told local media that staff had to be made redundant recently following a spate of attacks on the business, which included thefts. A smaller fire affected the business two years ago.
The plant has temporarily shut down and is not taking in new wood material while the damage is assessed.
