The CCATF’s upbeat statement follows a government announcement on August 29 which said employers with a recent history of training apprentices will now be eligible for the £1,500 apprenticeship grant for employers.

This change comes after lobbying by employers and organisations, including CCATF, following the launch of the grant in April.

When the grant was first announced, it was only available for employers who had not taken on an apprentice for more than three years. Now it is open to employers providing they haven’t employed an apprentice in the last 12 months.

In addition, training providers will now pay employers the full amount of £1,500 at the 13-week stage after the apprentice starts, instead of instalments.
