Forestry management group Tilhill has urged Scottish woodland owners to get applications for tree planting grants in now to pre-empt a change in funding rules.

A new tree planting grant scheme in Scotland has been given EU approval to start next spring and this, says Tilhill, will lead to “money in the pot being distributed differently”, resulting in “winners and losers”. To secure cash under the current “Better Land Supplement” scheme, woodland owners should apply now. The final cut off is December
