A new joint marketing board will be set up by the Association of Indonesian Wood Panel Makers (Apkindo) to support plywood prices.

The board, to be launched next year, is likely to arrange the country’s plywood marketing by region to help avoid unnecessary market competition among producers. It will also advise business people on prices.

Prices have dropped sharply in recent times, to about US$230 per m³, with increasing pressures from foreign buyers to bring rates still lower.
