Discussions are under way which may lead to a merger of the Association of Professional Foresters (APF) and The Timber Growers Association (TGA).

The respective chairmen – Richard Ogilvy (APF) and Len Yull (TGA) – believe a combined organisation with 2,500 members will have a stronger profile, more influence and credibility and improved representation in the forestry sector.

Mr Ogilvy said that if the merger went ahead, it was likely to be sooner rather than later. ‘We should be able to take it forward by spring next year if members decide to go ahead.’
