The Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA) of the USA is concerned at the amount of media misinformation about the future of treated wood.
Most consumer uses of CCA treatment are to be phased out by December 2003, but the SFPA says there is confusion leading many consumers to think there will no treated wood available after the deadline.
The SFPA is tackling media misrepresentation of the facts as they occur. It says that if consumers are going to continue using and purchasing pressure-treated products, then they must be given factual information that shows the proven advantages of treated wood.
