Around 40 small and medium sized West and Central African tropical wood product producing companies have been selected to take part in Race Wood 2004 to be held in Libreville, Gabon on January 21-23.
The project is jointly organised by the Inter African Forest Industries Association (IAFIA) and ProInvest, a new EU programme to encourage investment in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.
The sectors to be represented at the event include industrial joinery, interior and exterior fittings and furniture, mouldings and wooden flooring. The organisers are now seeking around 40 European companies looking to invest and form business partnerships with the African participants.
Further European funding will be available for the implementation of all individual partnership agreements.
