Representatives from African forestry companies have called on their industry to help conserve fauna in Congo.

The call came from about 30 delegates from companies in Cameroon, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Congo-Brazzaville, during a workshop on the management and conservation of fauna organised jointly by the Congolese government, the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Congolese Wood Industry.

They also recommended updating laws and regulations to take into account the involvement of forestry companies in the management of wildlife.
