GeoSmart will process pictures into orthophotographs, which have the distortion caused by the earth’s curvature removed, to provide accurate images to help with profitable forest management.

The orthophotographs will be used to provide accurate timber valuations and in compiling five year management and harvest plans.

They will allow forest managers to update changes to roads and streams which affect maintenance and harvesting accessibility, as well as reveal crop status and health.

Auckland-based GeoSmart’s forestry customers include Carter Holt Harvey.
