Irwandi Yusuf indefinitely banned logging in Aceh, saying: “This is part of our long-term plan to come up with a durable and fair forestry management plan.”
Aceh, Papua and West Papua recently made a joint pledge to protect Indonesia’s rainforests, with the governers of the three provinces adding that the international community had a duty to offer monetary incentives to developing countries to protect their natural resources.
