BSW, which is the exclusive supplier of Accoya in the UK and Ireland, also said the new Accoya full-scale commercial manufacturing plant in Holland, run by Accoya developer Titan Wood, would start commercial production in the coming weeks, with 22mm and 25mm thick profiles arriving in the UK during the next few months.

Arnold Laver Timber World and Vincent Timber Ltd will stock Accoya cladding products, while Westgate Joinery, Wright Joinery, JCK (Joinery), Anthony A Davies Ltd, Carey & Fox Ltd, Coed Derwen Joinery Ltd and Dempsey Dyer Ltd will use laminated sections for making joinery products.

BSW‘s John Alexander told TTJ at the Ecobuild show in London that cladding profiles will be produced during the first two months of Accoya production. Manufacturing will then be extended into joinery material up to 100mm.

“It’s a really simple message,” said Mr Alexander. “Accoya stops the wood absorbing moisture, making the substrate more stable so the coating last longer.”

Accoya is made through a process of wood acetylation.

More details on Accoya’s entrance into the UK market will follow in the March 17/24 issue of TTJ
