The Port of Cardiff is the third Associated British Ports (ABP) facility to win new business from UPM-Kymmene.
The port will handle cargoes of woodchips for Tilhill Forestry Ltd, exporting them to the Nordic region for use in the paper production industry.
The woodchips are a by-product of the sawmill industry and are sourced from environmentally-sustainable forests in Wales.
The first 2,200-tonne cargo left Cardiff for Finland in March. ABP’s Port of Swansea won a similar contract from Tilhill Forestry earlier this year.
