Pedal the Ports, the 1,600-mile tandem relay organised by Associated British Ports to support sufferers of motor neurone disease (MND), is under way.
Megan and Mark Palmer, the children of former Grimbsy & Immingham port director Nick Palmer who suffers from MND, rode the bike on the inaugural leg, starting from Grimsby’s famous Dock Tower.
The relay will take in all 21 of ABP‘s ports in England, Scotland and Wales before arriving back in Grimsby on July 5 when riders will be greeted by a port community open day.
ABP has received a great deal of fund-raising support from its customers, including a £21,000 donation from tanker and port agency Graypen/GP Shipping.
Donations can be made through www.justgiving.com/abppedaltheports or to ABP Pedal the Ports, ABP Grimsby, Port Office, Cleethorpes Road, DN31 3LL.
