AbitibiBowater has achieved 100% forest certification with the announcement that approximately 258,800ha of woodlands near Maniwaki, Québec have been certified under the Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) standard of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) based on a third-party audit conducted by the Quality Management Institute late last year.

AbitibiBowater has an inclusive certification policy that recognises the predominant forest certification systems in use in North America: the CSA, the Forest Stewardship Council, the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and the American Tree Farm System.

The company’s wood products division has an annual capacity of more than 2.5 billion board feet of lumber – enough to build 200,000 homes.
