Italy’s biennial woodworking machinery exhibition Xylexpo is changing its name slightly to reflect increasing diversification of the show.
The future of the Milan exhibition will now be characterised by the name Xylexpo NEW.
Organisers explained the move by revealing that the 2008 event will be opened up to producers of semi-finished materials, supplies, furniture components and all wood-based products.
They said this approach, where all aspects of the wood industry can be found in one place at one time, has been requested by the market for some time.
During the May 27-31, 2008 event at FieraMilano machines will be exhibited in the same halls as materials, components and supplies, with no clear separations in the layout, so visitors can get an overall vision of the market offer.
Abrasives will be placed close to sanding machines, paints will be found in halls dedicated to finishing operations and accessories in areas where assembly solutions are shown. Panels and semi-finished materials will be combined with secondary processes.
Another “new” feature is a collaboration with Dimaf (international demonstration of forest machines and equipment), which is moving its event from October to May to link up with Xylexpo NEW.
Other features will include an exhibition of artists using wood for their creations and new collaborations designed to bring the carpentry trade and construction industry into the show format.
“By adding ‘NEW’ to the exhibition name we want to send a clear message: we will offer a huge container, capable of generating synergy and innovation, with excellence as top priority,” said Ambrogio Delachi, president of exhibition organiser Cepra.
