The Woodworking Machinery Suppliers Association (WMSA) has sold the Working with Wood exhibition to Huddlestone Ltd, the event organiser which has run the show for a number of years.

The sale, for an undisclosed sum, was announced to WMSA members on April 1 and chairman David Thompson Rowlands said it would “secure the exhibition’s future development”.

“A successful event is constantly evolving and it’s time for Working with Wood to grow with the investment expertise and capital Huddlestone can provide,” he said.

Huddlestone managing director John Smith-Bodden said that the change in ownership would help Working with Wood broaden its exhibitor line-up beyond wood processing technology, notably to include more timber and wood products suppliers. That in turn will widen its visitor appeal.

“A widened audience is the basis of some very exciting developments for the show over the next two years,” he said.

He added that Huddlestone would also provide the exhibition with the resources for higher profile national promotion.

Each edition of the show includes a prefix denoting the year, so this year’s event, from October 3-6 at the NEC, Birmingham, will be W10-Working with Wood.
