Scottish housebuilder Stewart Milne Group is investing in a Paul high-speed crosscut line and a Holtec automated packsaw for its new timber-frame factory at Witney, Oxfordshire.

Paul and Holtec, represented in the UK and Ireland by Woodtech Machinery, were chosen because their machines provide the fast, accurate sawing capability needed for what is expected to be the world’s quickest timber-frame production line.

The Holtec’s level of automation and 140m3 per shift capacity were cited as key factors in its choice.

The crosscut line from Paul is designed to process more than 14,000 linear metres per shift. Based around a Model 14E saw with full optimising system, it will begin with a chain infeed that can hold four packs of timber, followed by the Vacuspeed automatic vacuum destacking and feeding system.
