Weyerhaeuser is strengthening its focus on Europe with a number of senior management changes.

Joe Kennedy, previously general manager at Weyerhaeuser’s MDF plant in Ireland, has been appointed European operations director for the European composite panel plants.

Bob Mang, who is currently responsible for Trus Joist Europe, is promoted to vice-president sales and marketing for Europe wood products. He will have direct responsibility for the marketing of composite panels throughout Europe and functional responsibility for all other Weyerhaeuser wood products marketing in Europe. He will retain full general manager accountability for Trus Joist Europe.

Trus Joist will remain a separate business within the Weyerhaeuser group but the new structure will enable it to take advantage of any product or sales synergies with the composite panels or wood products businesses.

John Guerin, currently general manager of the Darbo mill, will become the commercial director for Weyerhaeuser Composites in France and southern Europe. Geoff Rhodes, sales and marketing director for Weyerhaeuser Europe’s panels operations, maintains his responsibility for sales and marketing of composite panels in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands.

The changes follow the retirement of Rory Kirwan, vice-president of the European Composite Panel business. He will assist with the transition and then take on a consulting role.
