Two Weeke CNC machining centres have been installed to help Neville Johnson move to a nesting system of manufacturing.

The Old Trafford-based fitted furniture specialist bought two Weeke BHP210 gantry design machining centres with O-TRIX matrix tables after wide consultation and technical discussion with Homag UK.

Using new Magi-Cut nesting software, the company is now able to cut and drill all panel parts from full sheets on the two machines.

The company said the solution meant it did not have to invest in a new beam saw, which would have taken up valuable factory floor space.

It also said the Weeke’s cutting quality was such that no pre-milling was required for the subsequent edge-banding operation.

Neville Johnson said it was experiencing significant savings in board material and the manufacturing process had been speeded up.
