Panel processor VC Industries Ltd (VCi) has completed the first phase of a £500,000 project to upgrade its waste management system.

The Leeds-based company has installed two cyclo filters, extensive QF ductwork, two Combifab fans and a bespoke Dantherm colour touch screen control panel.

The installation, which has increased extraction capacity by 40%, includes two fully-automated and integrated systems with single pass filters for woodwaste and PVC to keep the two materials’ waste streams separate.

VCi says phase two will involve the installation of a hogger and silo, while phase three is scheduled for the second half of 2006. Once complete, VCi will be able to use wood waste for internal heating.

Works manager Paul Douglas said: “We knew we had to upgrade our existing extraction system, but this is an opportunity to totally rethink our waste management options.”

VCi’s panels are supplied as components to the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and office furniture manufacturing sectors.
