Wadkin UltraCare Ltd’s busy year continued at Hannover, with the formal signing of a contract with Japanese moulder manufacturer IIDA.

Earlier this year the company moved to a purpose-built site at Leicester, while more recently managing director Peter Smith led a management and employee buyout of the total interests of the company.

Wadkin Machines’ decision to partner with Far Eastern moulder manufacturers (it also sells Taiwanese-made machines under the revived Robinson brand) is a response to the changing market for moulders.

The company still manufacturers its own heavy-duty moulders, but IIDA gives it a more cost-effective solution in the mid-range market. Wickham-based merchant Sydenhams has already bought one of the machines.

Wadkin has worked with IIDA to develop the product for the European market. The machines are supported by the UltraCare aftersales service and support infrastructure.

The IIDA Woodman M-224/MH-224 moulder range features a cast-iron frame, individual drive motors to each feed roller, a maximum cutting circle of 250mm on top spindles for large mouldings and central lubrication systems.

Other machines on show included the Wadkin Visage profile grinder and a Robinson six-head entry-level moulder.
