Wadkin Group has acquired a minority interest in Bristol-based woodworking machinery supplier Amazon Machine Solutions Ltd.
The companies plan to implement a joint sales and marketing strategy to ensure all products within the marketplace are covered. As well as raising the profile of both organisations, the combined marketing effort will help Wadkin Group to compete more effectively with other major players in the industry.
Wadkin Group managing director Peter Smith said: “This is another development in our strategy to be a total support activity for our customers. Amazon provides an ideal resource to meet our customers’ requirements for the supply of machinery, particularly within our project management activity and we in turn provide the total capability to support their customer base, service, maintenance, tooling and spares.”
Describing the arrangement as “truly mutually benefiting”, Mr Smith said the partnership would enable Wadkin to focus on the strengths of its core business while more than doubling its selling resource.
There is currently no intention to merge the physical activities of the companies, but they could share facilities in the north of the UK to support activities.
