A meeting at Woodmex resulted in Classic Veneers of North Cheshire solving on-going problems with its year-old membrane press from Italy.

A national supplier of veneered and foiled chipboard, MDF and timber to coffin manufacturers and small furniture outlets, Classic Veneers found veneered board was sticking to the membrane within the press.

The “unsticking” process left dirt and damage on the veneered surface, decreased the life of the pressing membrane and subsequently spoilt the finish of the next batch going through.

Classic Veneers met with membrane-manufacturer Vacform Design at Woodmex and was impressed by its claim of being a “solutions provider”.

Vacform cured the sticking with its specially-developed release film. A new 4mm thick Vacform natural rubber membrane was also fitted – and the press now works better than was originally planned with throughput up by at least 30%.
