To meet CE marking requirements, a number of Malaysian plywood producers have bought material testing equipment from Hampshire-based Lloyds Instruments.

The company’s distributor in Kuala Lumpur, Lenny Chiew of Lenniko MTM Systems & Services, said: “A key factor in achieving CE marking is being able to determine the bond quality of veneer plywood by shear testing according to BS EN 314 and determining the modulus of elasticity and bending strength according to BS EN 310.

“Not only were we able to supply a special jig for the testing, but also the Lloyd Instruments’ NEXYGEN MT materials test and data analysis software and Ondio application builder software ensured that the test could be automated and results presented in the graphical form required by the CE marking auditor, BM TRADA.”
