“Two companies, one team” was the banner slogan on the stand shared by Whitmore’s Timber and Smee Profiles, highlighting that the two now operate as a co-ordinated unit.

“We’ve now positioned ourselves as the one-stop timber shop, offering the market the complete range, from sawn hardwood and clear softwood, decking and cladding, through to solid timber and veneer-wrapped profiles and machined products,” said marketing manager Robert Weighill. “And visitors to the show have reacted very well to our new proposition. It’s been a positive show for us.”

The Whitmore’s and Smee stand was one of only a relatively small number taken at the show by timber suppliers, but Mr Weighill described the event as “the right place to be”.

“I suppose to some extent, we’ve had a bit of a timber monopoly here, which has been good for us,” he said. “But I think it makes sense for us to exhibit alongside the latest timber processing technology; after all, we have the same customer base.”

The companies’ new easy-to-use literature and stocklist were distributed from the stand, and products from the other group member, British Wood Floors, were also highlighted.
