Touchwood Trading of Liskeard is among the first companies to install a ST100 radial arm resaw from Stenner.

Touchwood supplies sawn and machined timber to the building, joinery and shopfitting sectors. Director Phil Hooper said: “We also supply shed and timber frame manufacturers and do some timber frame construction ourselves.

“We’ll use the ST100 for everything from structural sections to sizing timber for the moulder.

“Variable feed speed from the HMI control system is a major advantage. We also like the superior lubrication, which means cleaner blades and a better finish, and the pneumatic blade straining which is easier than a manual system and improves accuracy.”

Another company which has bought an ST100 is RPT Joinery of Edmonton, north London, which makes windows, staircases and doors.

Director Thady Goonan said: “We recently put in a high-speed window line and needed high throughput of sawn wood to feed it.”

The ST100 is the company’s first resaw and the fact it needed no pit was highly important, as was the variable feed speed from 5-60m/min as RPT cuts both softwood and hardwood.

Stenner unveiled its ST100 and ST130 at an open house at main distributor AL Dalton Ltd ealier this year. A number of customers signed up for ST100 on the spot and orders for the ST130 are in the pipeline.
