The Timber Packaging and Pallet Confederation (TIMCON) has launched an innovative training programme aimed at helping to reduce the risk of accidents.

TIMCON says its course is different from others because it is designed to

“train the trainer”. Company employees will be trained to Chartered Institute of Environmental Health – Professional Trainer Certificate level at Burton College before returning to their companies to deliver in-house training to operatives.

Operatives will be registered with the college and issued with a TIMCON training programme booklet.

Modules covered in the booklet include manual handling, fasteners for the pallet and case industry, portable power tools, crosscut saws, circular saws, pallet construction and pallet machines.

The course is open to all in the pallet and case industry, plus sawmilling, fencing, portable building industries and other allied trades.
