Paul Flounders, business development manager of Wolf Systems, was so impressed with the Timber Works section of Ecobuild that he said he would have “no hesitation in signing up again next year”.

“It’s been particularly helpful for us and we’ve benefited from having smartroof next door as there’s been plenty of potential to refer customers to each other.”

Wolf was promoting its easi-joist and the fact that the open metal-web joist can be used in three applications – in floors, roofs and walls.

“We have a number of partners building to Code for Sustainable Homes levels who want to develop their own structural systems using our products,” said Mr Flounders.

Neighbouring smartroof was promoting the panelised roof system that was developed by Wolf Systems and Wyckham Blackwell.

Smartroof’s business development manager Matthew Naughton reported a strong market for the roof system. “Over the last 18 months we’ve supplied Barratt Homes with 1,000 units for rooms-in-the-roof and we’re in talks with Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey.

“It’s good to see the fabric first message getting through,” he said. “And we can play our part.”
