The “world’s first” adjustable length timber nogging was showcased at Ecobuild by a new business launched by Roger Smith.

Mr Smith said his Stanton-based The Nogging Company Ltd brings off-site production quality and efficiency to the usual “tedious” process of on-site nogging installation on timber floor systems.

He has designed metal connectors, with countersunk fixing holes and optional quick fix spike to ensure a near flush finish for both fixed length and adjustable length noggings.

The adjustable length is achieved by the nogging supplied in two long angled sections, which you simply slide according to desired length and then bond with hot melt glue.

“We go into production in April,” said Mr Smith. Timber frame manufacturers, timber engineering companies and distributors are being targeted. Ceilings, cladding and partitions are also potential applications.
