A Salisbury-based manufacturer of vacuum presses for the woodworking and furniture industries has secured £22,000 worth of new overseas business with help from Trade Partners UK.

Government network Trade Partners, which is designed to give companies a head start with foreign business, gave The Air Press Company advice, training and support on developing a website and made available its New Products from Britain service, which places product articles in the overseas specialist trade press.

The key lead was attending this year’s Ligna exhibition at Hannover, which resulted in contacts with 70 companies looking to sign deals to sell The Air Press Company’s products in countries including Europe, Canada, New Zealand, China and Russia.

The company’s managing director Peter Hoggard said: “The guidance we received coupled with the very informative training courses we went on gave us the confidence to take things further and has meant we are going into new markets with knowledge and a well-planned strategy.”
