US-based certifier and tester TECO has bought the TECO-Mater Shear Tester business from Mater International Inc.
The Shear Tester, a machine designed to improve quality control in the plywood industry, was developed by Mater for TECO in the 1960s. Mater has marketed and manufactured the product for the past 40 years.
The tester, which pulls apart plywood glue-bond samples, is added to TECO’s range of panel test equipment for OSB and plywood manufacturers.
Ed Starostovic, TECO CEO, said: “Being able to expand the line of test machines available from TECO with one that has been associated with TECO for so long is a real plus.”
