Talbott’s Heating Ltd has assisted a number of companies in receiving Action Energy loans for the installation of its wood-fuelled waste-to-energy systems.

Companies buying Talbott’s wood-burning units in recent months include Tyler Hardwoods Ltd, of rural Wiltshire, Hertfordshire-based Demornay Boyes Ltd and the South West Joinery Group of Gloucester. All took advantage of interest-free loans from Action Energy, which aim to help small- to medium-sized enterprises invest in energy-saving equipment.

Tyler Hardwoods installed a Talbott T150 woodwaste-to-energy system to provide heat for its Shalbourne factory. Originally established as a specialist timber merchant, the company now has a growing machining operation, including hardwood mouldings, which in turn has led to increasing volumes of woodwaste.

The installation provides an output of 50kW/hr, sufficient to heat the entire machining shop, and is expected to reduce energy costs by up to £6,000 per year.

Harpenden-based woodworking business Demornay Boyes used a number of inefficient and expensive infra-red radiant electrical 3kW units until the installation of a Talbott’s T500 woodwaste-fire hot air space-heating system. The unit provides an output of 150kW/hr.

South West Joinery Company also took advantage of an Action Energy loan to replace its old twin-boiler unit with a single, fully-automatic Talbott’s TM/A warm air heating system, rated at 300kW/hr, for heating the 35,000ft2 production area.
