Family-owned Taylor Made Joinery of Suffolk has invested in a Bütfering wide-belt sander designed for denibbing and finishing.

The machine was ordered to modernise the processes in the finishing shop and has already improved final product quality and productivity and given savings in labour costs, time and materials.

Designated a Bütfering SBC 113C ‘Special’, the machine has a working width of 1350mm and uses 1900mm-long abrasive belts.

The machine is a single head design using a Combi-head comprising a profiled steel contact roller and a patented Bütfering CPS eletronically controlled segmented pad with 12.5mm segment width which ensures accurate edge matching.

Machine setting is program controlled and, when denibbing, there is accurate pressure regulation to the segments which is monitored to an accuracy of 0.2 bar.

In-process cleaning and maintenance are features of the machine, which was supplied by Homag UK.
