Danish woodworking equipment manufacturer System TM has landed the largest order in its 35-year history – a contract to supply five high-capacity production lines for a Russian sawmill.
System TM said the order was “groundbreaking” for the company, not only because of its size, but it also fulfills the company’s ambition to operate as a full-line supplier.
Equipment being supplied to Arkaim in eastern Russia includes an optimising cross-cut line (including scanner and finger-jointing), high-speed edge-glued panels line, high-speed grading/sorting line, glue-laminating line for multiple panels and a finishing/packaging line for glued panels.
The equipment will be shipped in three stages next spring.
System TM said an unusual aspect of the order was that the sawmiller would collect the machinery itself and ship it using its own vessels.
“This certainly helps to underline the Russian company’s size, and also how big an impact its order will have on System TM’s business.”
