A Sturrock & Sons, the joinery products designer and manufacturer says it has cut its annual energy, transport and landfill costs by £20,000 by buying a “green” dust extraction system.

The Nordfab NFS 2000 filter system and Talbott C2 combustion unit installed at the company’s premises in Kirkbuddo north of Dundee enables the automatic burning of excess sawdust for heat. All other wood waste generated within the factory is being processed through a “chipper” and is also burned.

According to managing director Alex Sturrock, staff have noticed “a big difference in the workshop’s air quality”.
