A 140-year-old independent family timber merchant based in Warwickshire has replaced its ageing dust extraction system to aid future expansion and comply with environmental requirements.
Atherstone-based Sykes Timber, which holds more than 40 species of imported and homegrown timbers, opted for Dustraction‘s cyclo-filter system, incorporating a 30m3 silo.
Managing director Richard Sykes said the cyclo-filter’s lack of moving parts means less maintenance. Other benefits cited include continuous operation, emission efficiency and capacity for warmed air to be returned to the factory.
Sykes transfers wood waste from the base of the cyclo-filter to the silo to produce heat for its factory.
