Stewart Milne Timber Systems is investing in a fleet of 17 Combilift multi-directional forklift trucks to service its two production sites.

Eight trucks will be in operation at the company’s recently-opened Witney factory, which is expected to produce 6,000 timber structures per year. Nine trucks will be used at the Westhill plant, Aberdeen.

The 4.8 tonne capacity diesel powered trucks will be used both inside and outside to handle raw timber, sheet material and finished wall, floor and roof systems, which can be up to 9.6m long.

Stewart Milne chose the Irish-built trucks for their versatility, manoeuvrability and capability of handling long and bulky loads in confined spaces.

UK operations director Hamish Morrison said the Combilifts would satisfy future requirements as the planned growth of the Witney site continues.
