An AXYZ CNC router is helping a Bury St Edmunds design-based company manufacture soft play and sensory equipment for people with special needs.

Mike Ayres Design has installed AXYZ Automation (UK) Ltd’s 5010 CNC router to improve manufacturing consistency and speed.

The company, which has designed special needs equipment and environments for more than 25 years, makes tactile toys, individual murals, cut outs for murals and components for electronic cases for making tactile panels. It has been instrumental in introducing the multi-sensory concept into Britain.

Mike Ayres said: “The AXYZ 5010 has enabled us to create shapes and forms that otherwise we couldn’t do easily for small, medium-size and one-off production runs.”

He said the flexibility of the 5010, which has a process areas of 1784x3048mm, is important as the company works with individuals and their needs.

The AXYZ 5000 series is available from £35,000 upwards.
