The £2m South West Woodland Renaissance partnership has taken its first major step with the appointment of Jez Ralph as development officer.
Mr Ralph will assemble a series of bids to encourage investment in local woodlands, timber processing and associated businesses to create jobs, develop markets and preserve and improve the environment.
Grant-aided by the Regional Development Agency and the Forestry Commission, this phase of Woodland Renaissance is being co-ordinated by south-west based Silvanus Trust.
Mr Ralph has been with Silvanus Trust since 2001.
