Forestry Commission Scotland has appointed Steve Smith as rural development adviser to help rural communities in the Highlands and Islands get the most from their local forests.

Mr Smith, who was previously the head of Woodland Surveys at Forest Research, is based in the Commission’s Dingwall office.

Meanwhile, John Risby has been appointed as Forestry Commission Scotland’s Grampian conservator. The Conservancy promotes the interests of forestry and helps woodland owners with grants from the Scottish Forestry Grants Scheme, felling licences, advice and regulations.
