Simpson Strong-Tie has become the first company to receive full European Technical Approval certification for its range of timber I-joist connectors.
Technical director Ian Harrison described the award as a landmark for both the industry and the company and paid tribute to the support received from the British Board of Agrément (BBA).
He said: “While CE markings are not mandatory in the UK at present, we can see that more and more organisations will adopt these requirement. Indeed we are already exeriencing demands from designers to provide the necessary information which will enable them to use Eurocode 5.”
