A Dorset joinery manufacturer has introduced a Martin T45 thickness planer to improve the quality of products supplied to the owner’s building business and local contractors.
The T45, supplied by Homag UK Ltd, is being used by Sturminster Newton-based Shire Joinery to produce a range of joinery products.
About 60% of Shire’s business is with trade customers, while private work for kitchens, bedrooms and other fitted furniture represents a growing aspect of the business.
The T45 has a memory of 99 storable planing dimensions and a feed rate of 6-12m/min, while planing width is 630mm and the thickness working range extends from 2.8-300mm.
