Timber traders were given demonstrations of Progressive Solutions International (PSI) Ltd’s bisTrack business information software in Runcorn and Reading recently.

The seminars, which each attracted about 25 people, showed how bisTrack supports timber tallies along with variable dimension products such as specials, cut sheets and random width hardwoods.

There was positive feedback from delegates whose comments included: “Our current supplier is trying to be all things to all industries…Progressive is going the right way with the Microsoft tie in. Our current system doesn’t link to Excel so imports and exports are a two-stage process.”

Another described the demonstration as “a lot more comprehensive than I have seen before” while a third said: “We wouldn’t have considered PSI a year ago, but having seen the software we want to talk further.”

The software, developed specifically for timber and builders’ merchants, integrates with Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as accounts packages Navison, Great Plains and Sage.

Progressive Solutions says bisTrack can produce works orders for manufactured products, add on processing costs and add items to the inventory. Timber stock can be recorded and managed as discrete packs, either truck bundled or packaged to length.
