Screwfix has announced a 28.1% growth in sales to £117.1m during the third quarter.

But the company, the UK’s largest direct and online supplier of trade tools, accessories and hardware products, said the market was getting “tougher”.

“This means adding more exclusive products, offering more low prices and introducing more leading brand names to our product portfolio and, of course, ensuring a fast, reliable service across each of our multi-channel supply lines,” said John Colley, Screwfix commercial director.

Screwfix is continuing its trade counter initiative – an additional 12 outlets were opened during the third quarter, bringing the total to 80 across the UK. A further 14 branches will open in the fourth quarter.

A second distribution centre in Stafford has also opened.
