Educational furniture maker Thorpe Kilworth signed the order with SCM Hi-Tech Panels division distributor Machine Sales Ltd. The deal will include a Morbidelli Unix KBT.
In all, almost £2m worth of orders were signed on the SCM stand, with more business expected to be finalised in the coming days and weeks.
SCM Group UK’s managing director Ian Brown described W6 as a fabulous show, with orders, enquiries and new customers up on two years ago.
“We always commit ourselves to the UK’s major exhibition in a big way, as our three stands and the largest floor area at W6 will testify, and it has always paid dividends for SCM,” he said.
SCM exhibited a range of solid wood and classical woodworking machines, panel processing technology and CNC routing and machining centres.
First showings at W6 included the Record 132 NT-TVN “Prisma” five-axis machine, demonstrated in a number of joinery applications, including doors, stair and window components.
The Windor 40 CNC machining centre also received a first UK airing.
