A Liverpool shopfitter has taken delivery of a Swiss Striebig vertical panel saw as part of a £250,000 machinery investment programme.

Rushworth Shopfitting, a national company specialising in the refurbishment of stores, offices, public houses and hotels, bought the saw to complement a new SCM Record 130 panel machining centre.

Both machines are in its recently-expanded Aintree premises. The company purchased an adjacent builder’s yard to double its space to 4,000ft2, allowing it to increase production.

The Striebig Standard II saw, bought through TM Machinery Sales Ltd of Leicester, is being used to size MDF panels before they pass through the machining centre. This includes a range of coloured MDF imported from Portugal which Rushworths uses either in its shopfitting contracts or sells separately after processing.

The model has a 6m-long frame size, large enough to cope with different panel sizes, and a Striebig TRK dust and chips extraction system – designed to meet European legislation.

Rushworths also completes projects for local authorities and housing associations.
